A Godolphin cast-off and bought by current connections for just 3,000 pounds, Nezeeh led home 14 rivals in the Buy Tickets Online At www.corkracecourse.ie Handicap.

An also ran in some valuable races when in the famous Godolphin blue, he had struggled to make an impact since joining Denis Hogan, but wasn't beaten far when fifth at Bellewstown in April.

Since failing to fire on recent starts at Limerick and Roscommon respectively, the Profitable four-year-old was well-supported this evening, going from 18s to 8s late on.

Dropping back to the minimum trip and settled behind the leaders by Joey Sheridan, the 58-rated bay was ridden to challenge with over a furlong to go and got to the lead inside the final 200 yards, keeping on well from there to score by two-and-three-quarters of a length.

The Pat Flynn-trained Carrigans Grove (5/1 from 7s) ran on well to take second under Gary Carroll, while Whatswrongnow (14/1) was a short head away in third.

Returned the 16/5 favourite, My Girl Sioux finished fifth.

"Alan (Casey) and a few of the claimers had been riding him and I felt we should try this trip as if he showed what he did at Bellewstown (in April), that he would have a chance, dropping back in trip," Sheridan reflected.

"It suited that we went hard and he was able to pick them up. He had no problem lying up, which I was surprised about, so I was able to get a breather into him and I knew he'd stay going to the line.

"That's my 12th winner this season, so I'm up on what I did last year which is very important. Hopefully I can continue through the season now."

STEWARDS REPORT

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Nezeeh, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The authorised representative of trainer Denis Gerard Hogan stated that the change in trip and a stronger fully fledged rider contributed to the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given.
