Godolphin rely on War for Derby

Ocean War is set to be Godolphin's sole representative in Saturday's Investec Derby at Epsom.

Simon Crisford, racing manager to Sheikh Mohammed's operation, revealed that the son of Dalakhani is all set for Epsom.

Crisford told At The Races: "We're very much leaning toward Ocean War being our sole Derby contender, with Casamento heading to France, for the Prix du Jockey Club, and Genius Beast waiting for the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"We've left all three in at the latest entry stage but that's only to give us a little bit more time and more as a precautionary measure.

"As things stand that's what we'll do".

Ocean War, a general 20/1 for Saturday's Classic, was last seen beating Cai Shen at Newmarket in April, however Crisford expects the dual winner to improve again at Epsom.

"A mile and a half will suit him, as will a truly run race and we expect him to be putting in his best work at the finish," he explained.

"On the book he's got to improve a great deal but he's done nothing but please us and we're hopeful of a big run".
