From the family of El Gran Senor and Try My Best, the colt was purchased by Eugene McDermott of Kennycourt Stud. Another of Galileo's offspring in great demand was Lot 1154, a half sister to the Group 3 Coventry Stakes placed Kawagino. The River Downs Stud-consigned filly was purchased by M.V. Magnier for ?240,000. Loughtown & Chevington Studs' daughter of Montjeu (Lot 1227) out of Group 3 winner Antioquia also made ?240,000 when bought by Felipe Hinojosa's Yeguada De Milagro stud. Other notable purchases on the final day of the sale included a ?190,000 Galileo filly (Lot 1190) from Barnane Stud and bought by BBA Ireland, and also a son of first season sire Oratorio (Lot 1129) from Coolnahay Stud who was knocked down to Timmy Hyde's Camas Park Stud for ?180,000.At the conclusion of the foal sale Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented:'Over the last five days we have experienced every emotion possible in bloodstock terms, with some excellent highs and a few lows. Among the highs was the huge demand for commercial foals. On each of the five days the phrase 'the good ones are hard to buy' was heard time and again. The start of the week witnessed the reality of the lower end of the yearling market materialise and many have felt the effects of 'overproduction' hit home this week. The increased number of foals born in recent years meant it was inevitable that somewhere down the line there had to be some sort of market correction and it looks like that time is now. That said, I repeat that we have enjoyed incredibly strong competition for those foals which the market felt were most commercial and the last two days have built up a steady crescendo of bidding culminating in a truly spectacular session of trading today when competition for foals was as fierce as ever.I wish to sincerely thank our vendors for their support and wish all buyers every success with their Goffs purchases. We now look forward to three days of quality broodmare and filly sales and to welcoming vendors and a broad range of domestic and international purchasers to Goffs.Goffs November Sale continues with three days of broodmares and fillies from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th November. Selling commences at 10am each day.
