As the sun continues to beat down, one feels that going and weather reports are almost superfluous and there are no surprises in the news from Killarney and Leopardstown.

After three days of Flat racing, the focus switches to jumping at Killarney where the first of eight races goes to post at 4.30pm.

There will be plenty of liquid refreshments and food available for patrons, with disposable barbecues strictly forbidden after Tuesday's blaze in the nearby National Park.

The ground is now good, good to yielding in places after watering, but with temperatures in the mid-20s, one imagines the good to yielding patches will be gone by race time.

The BOYLE Sports Meld Stakes (7.10) is the feature at Leopardstown and Gavin Cromwell's Snellen bids to emulate last year's victory in the nine-furlong Group 3.

An eight-race card kicks off at 4.20pm and the ground is good, good to firm in places with temperatures of up to 24 degrees forecast.
