Gold Cup option for Manatee Manatee is a possible for the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot after finishing third in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier on Sunday. The Andre Fabre-trained five-year-old was having his first run since finishing sixth behind Vazirabad in the Dubai Gold Cup in March. He finished behind that rival again at the weekend, but thrilled connections with his performance. Godolphin's French representative Lisa-Jane Graffard told www.godolphin.com: "We were delighted with Manatee's run. It was a semi-comeback and he really needed the outing. "At the moment, the trainer is strongly considering running Manatee in the Gold Cup, but we will see how the horse is after this performance and consult."
