Gold Speed was another front-running winner in Navan as he shot clear in the final furlong of the bumper.

Derek O'Connor 's mount had plenty in the tank as he showed a good turn of foot to put the race away passing the furlong pole.

He readily stretched away and took the honours by two and a half lengths at 5/1. Bombay Blue finished second at 10/1 and he was two lengths in front of Dads Lad at 8/1.

Trainer Adrian Murray said: “He was very good. We've always thought plenty of this fella.

“He had a couple of setbacks but he needed all the time he got. He's a big leggy horse, he's six-year-old now and I'd say he's still strengthening up. He's not the full horse yet.

“He had a lovely run in Listowel. We gave him plenty of time.

“He'll go for a maiden hurdle now. Win, lose or draw today he was going to go hurdling.

“We'll enter him up in a month's time all going well, if he's okay.

“He loved that kind of ground. I wouldn't like to run him on real heavy winter ground, not yet anyway.”
