Golden Joy , who was making his racecourse debut for Cian Collins, took the honours in the Noreside Catering Handicap Chase at Gowran Park.

He was given a spin in fifth in a Portrush point-to-point last month by Collins as the ex Gordon Elliott-racer had been off track since April.

The seven-year-old gelding led narrowly after three out and although patiently-ridden Drumgill looked threatening on the run-in, Golden Joy stayed on best in the closing stages to win going away by three and a half lengths at 12/1 from the 5/1 runner-up.

Collins said: "That was a nice pot to get, a nice race. He did it very well. Jordan (Gainford) was very happy with him and everything went smoothly.

"We actually ran him in a point-to-point a month ago just to see could we get his confidence back up. It seemed to work, he had a nice run around.

"This race came up and it suited perfectly.

"We have him since May, but he has really corned the corner in the last couple of weeks. He's a nice horse to have. Hopefully, he can progress and go to Leopardstown now at Christmas with him."
