Golden Sandbanks has proved a great dual-purpose servant to connections and recorded his seventh win in the space of 16 months when taking division two of the 1m4f Bar One Racing ‘Price Boosts Across All Channels’ Apprentice Handicap.

The Paul Flynn-trained gelding, who has won twice both over hurdles and fences, was recording his third Flat success here at odds of 9/2.

Robert Whearty ’s mount made headway between horses in the straight and maintained a slight advantage inside the final furlong to beat Sky Legend by half-a-length. Wishes And Dreams finished a further three quarters of a length back in third.

Flynn said, "Robert said he was way too keen, so it was a good performance.

"We are going to keep him on the Flat until Christmas and then he is going to go over hurdles in Leopardstown on the third day over Christmas. He is going to try 2m4f over hurdles.

"He'll probably have a break then and we'll see what happens. We trained him in the summer last year and he suffered from allergies, but he doesn't really like soft ground so it is tricky."
