Backed into 11/8 from 13/8 approaching race time, and bigger earlier, favourite Goodbye Someday justified the support in race two at Tramore, the Doneraile Walk (C & G) Maiden Hurdle.

For local owners, the Flynns, and local trainer, John Kiely, Denis O’Regan did the steering on the Stowaway gelding, and he put his experience, including in handicap company, to good use.

Shedding his maiden tag at the eleventh time of asking, the victorious six-year-old raced in mid-division early before making good headway to lead after the fifth.

He made the rest of the running and ultimately comfortably accounted for Ran Rite and Bal De Rio by ten lengths and three lengths.

Goodbye Someday saw off Premium Package (15/8) for market- supremacy and that Henry de Bromhead runner had to settle for fifth place.

Tom Kiely, assistant trainer and John's nephew, said: "It's great to get the win today, he deserved it, he had a lot of good form in the book but just didn't get his head in front.

“Denis said they weren't going quick enough in front and that he was free enough in behind, he winged the one at the top of the hill and Rachael (Blackmore on Premium Package) missed it so he said he'd let him sail on. He just gave him a waiting ride from the front then and it suited him.

"His experience showed today the way he jumped. He'll probably go for another handicap now.

"It's great for the Flynn's, they are great supporters of ours."
