Gordon Lord Byron bids for more Foret glory Gordon Lord Byron is among a formidable Irish team lining up for what looks a vintage renewal of the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday. Tom Hogan's globetrotting sprinter/miler won the seven-furlong contest in 2012 and finished second to the brilliant Moonlight Cloud last year. He has since won a Group One in Australia and has run creditably in defeat on several occasions, including when third in the Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown last time. The Irish team also features recent Matron Stakes scorer Fiesolana and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Darwin as well as Ansgar, last seen taking the Park Stakes at Doncaster. Trainer Sabrina Harty said of the latter: " He's in grand form at home and with these older horses it's always worth carrying on if they are enjoying it. "It's definitely worth a crack and he should get his ground out there, which is always important." Garswood, who joined the Group One elite in the Prix Maurice de Gheest, was third behind Moonlight Cloud and Gordon Lord Byron 12 months ago. "He's in fine form and ran a blinder in the race last year," said trainer Richard Fahey. "Hopefully the ground will be OK for him because he's where we want him." Karakontie is on the comeback trail after finishing eighth to The Grey Gatsby in the French Derby. Jockey Stephane Pasquier said: "He won the Poulains easily, but the Jockey Club (French Derby) was a bit too long, he's definitely a mile horse. "He's had a few months to recover, so we'll see how he's come back. He won over seven furlongs as a two-year-old, and this trip should suit him."
