Gowran Whip Ban The Stewards interviewed Danny Mullins, rider of Castle Bar Sling, concerning his use of the whip in the straight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and also from Mr Ger Lyons trainer, representing the rider and subsequently from Mr Joseph Murphy trainer. Having viewed the video of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Danny Mullins had used his whip with excessive frequency and suspended him for three race days. Furthermore he was instructed to attend race for one day's tuition on the use of the whip.
