Family success as Browne off the mark with first runner Tanya Browne made the perfect start to her training career when Lamar Canyon sprang a 20/1 shock in the five furlong maiden at Dundalk, under her son Adam Browne-Souza. The Alkumait gelding was produced to challenge on the inner at the furlong marker and got on top in the closing stages for a three-parts-of-a-length victory over Focaccia. The winner, as big as 125/1 in the morning, was stepping up on three efforts at the track last year. The winning trainer said: "First runner, first winner! My son Adam rode him, and Willie Browne is my dad. "He was showing up well last year, but it just wasn't happening on the track. He was babyish, physically and mentally. He's quite a big horse and quite shelly. “Mentally he is different since we gelded him. He has shown today what he shows at home. "We were hopeful as he has settled down. I know James Barrett trained the dam (Red Pantz) and she wasn't bad. "We might step him up in company now and he is for sale. "I have two horses in training, the other one is Viamonte who is a sprint handicapper. We'll see (if open to more horses), I wanted to see how I got on first. "I'm based in Rosegreen, 20 minutes from dad." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
