Gowran aiming to produce good ground Officials at Gowran Park are aiming for good ground for their two-day meeting that features the PWC Champion Chase on Saturday. The Kilkenny course is being watered due to the current dry spell and the forecast is set fair for the fixture which begins on Friday. "We have stunning weather here at the moment and the forecast is for more of the same. We are enjoying an Indian summer here," general manager Eddie Scally told At The Races. "It's a big meeting for us. The going is officially good and we are watering. The target for us is for the easy side of good on Saturday. It is good and we are watering to maintain it. "I think it will be good ground, it won't be any quicker. It will be true good National Hunt ground. "Sizing Europe won our big race four years in a row. It is the same connections - Ann and Alan Potts and trainer Henry de Bromhead - coming back with Shanahan's Turn. That will be in with a shout after winning the Galway Plate this year. "You have Rogue Angel, who won the Kerry National a couple of weeks ago. He's also entered, and Clarcam, who won at Aintree earlier in the year as well. "It's a top-class race."
