Grann's Boy edges Sticwiththeprocess in Fairyhouse thriller The Harry Rogers trained Grann's Boy had his head in front where it mattered when just shading a thrilling conclusion to the opening Cawley Furniture Novice Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse. Off the track since finishing fourth at Wexford in October, the 33/1 chance belied those odds to make a winning reappearance under Darragh O'Keeffe. Held up in mid division as Attaboyarchie took the field along, O'Keeffe edged closer on the eventual winner after three out. With the leader coming under pressure approaching two out, a whole host of challengers emerged from out of the chasing pack. Sticwiththeprocess took over in front under Mark Walsh but was quickly joined by Grann's Boy on his outer. The two were locked in a battle from the back of the final flight but the son of Zoffany just found that bit extra at the death to snatch a well deserved short head victory. Harry Rogers said: “I thought he’d run well but I thought the ground was against him. Heavy ground doesn’t really suit him, but it didn’t look that bad and Darragh was very good on him. “He stays well, and I’d say he could go three miles. “We only have a few horses and I’m lucky that I have some good owners. We only have ten in training and it’s nice to get it.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee.
