Green gets off mark in style Jesus Green justified his short price with an easy success in the mile maiden at Navan this afternoon. The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt went to post a 4/11 shot, having been runner-up in Grade 1 company in the Golden Fleece Stakes at Leopardstown last month. Joey Sheridan tracked the leaders on the hotpot before taking closer order passing the two pole. The son of Ghaiyyath hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home and was soon asked to quicken clear. He always had things in control from there on, going on to post a three length win over promising newcomer Choctaw Nation. Sheridan said: "He obviously handled good ground the last day in Leopardstown behind one that looks an aeroplane in Darkness Falls, and handled soft ground there because it is plenty soft on the round track. "You'd love his attitude, he's very straightforward. It was obviously a very exciting run the last day and he is a very exciting colt. He's going to grow up plenty too. "He's the type that you could put anywhere in a race, and he will get further too. "One man's disappointment is another man's fortune. I'm very lucky to be getting the opportunities and I'll make the most of it because I don't think Dylan (Browne McMonagle) is too far away." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
