Green light for top-class Cheltenham card This afternoon's meeting at Cheltenham goes ahead after the track passed an impromptu morning inspection. Officials at Prestbury Park were expecting showers from Friday evening into Saturday morning, but significantly more rain fell than anticipated and at 7am the course was deemed unraceable by clerk of the course Simon Claisse. However, Claisse was pleased to report a "considerable improvement" in conditions a few hours later and was able to give the high-profile fixture the go-ahead shortly before the planned inspection time of 10am. "Racing goes ahead. There's been considerable improvement and most of standing water has gone," Claisse told Channel 4 Racing. "We're going to have to take out a few of the fences and we might be moving a bit of hurdle rail. All the hurdles are on fresh ground, so I don't think we're going to have take any hurdles out. "It's heavy ground, but we're going ahead."
