Grendisar takes Coral Easter Classic Grendisar enhanced his excellent record at Lingfield with another big-race victory in the Coral Easter Classic All-Weather Middle Distance Championships Conditions Stakes. Marco Botti's six-year-old had won six times from 16 previous appearances at the track and only finished out of the first three on a couple of occasions. He was placed behind Saturday's Dubai Turf favourite Tryster in both the Winter Derby and in this race year ago and having gone one better in the Winter Derby last month, he was a heavily supported 4/6 favourite to add to his tally in this £200,000 contest. Adam Kirby was happy to play a waiting game aboard the market-leader, settling him on the outside of runners in midfield. For a moment rounding the home turn it looked as though the odds-on shot could have his work cut out after French challenger Metropol quickened up well to lead, but Botti's charge found an extra gear inside the final furlong and was good value for his one length success. Fire Fighting came home strongly to edge out Metropol for second. Kirby said: "I can't explain what it means to me, slogging it out all winter. You put a lot of graft in. "Unfortunately I missed out on the all-weather championship but it's just nice to get onto a good horse like this and for him to show how good he is."
