Griffin on the mark at Kelso with Sudski Dublin based trainer Patrick Griffin was on the mark at Kelso this afternoon, as his Sudski Star won the Borders Carers Centre Handicap Chase under Brian Hughes. Trained in point-to-points here by Garvan Donnelly, the six-year-old son of Pilsudski has campaigned in the UK since joining Griffin, and he was recording his first career win today on his fifteenth start. Having finished a close-up third on his last outing at Carlisle, the bay gelding was sent off the 3/1 favourite, wearing a visor for the first time, having being available at 5’s this morning. Having tracked the leaders in the early stages, he was pushed along before the eighth, and was ridden approaching three out. However he rallied well under pressure, and he hit the front on the run-in, keeping on best to score by a length and a half from 10/3 chance Edmund in second.
