Ground improves at Curragh but rain forecast

The ground at the Curragh is now good to yielding after no overnight rain at the Kildare venue.

The going at declaration had been yielding. The recent dry weather has seen the course dry up considerably during the week.

The Phoenix Stakes is the highlight of a seven-race card which gets underway at 2.20pm.

The weather is forecast to take a turn for the worse with showers, some heavy and thundery, expected today and tomorrow.

Ballinrobe race tomorrow evening and the going there is now good.

The previous description had been yielding, yielding to soft in places.
