Ground key to Hotel

Henry de Bromhead hopes Days Hotel does not need soft ground to be seen at his best.

The six-year-old is unbeaten since switching his attentions to fences and landed a Grade 2 in good style at Punchestown last time out.

So far all his winning form has come on ground with plenty of cut but the Co. Waterford handler hopes a strong gallop could be the key to him.

"He looks really nice and he's improving all the time," said De Bromhead on At The Races.

"We always thought he was nice when he was younger but he just wasn't getting it right on the track.

"He jumps and gallops, he's similar to Sizing Europe in that respect, whether he's that level I don't know, he looks nice and I'd say the softer the ground the better he is.

"I don't know if he's a spring horse, he's more a winter horse so he might not be one for Cheltenham. I might be wrong.

"He's come alive since we've run him over two miles flat out. It's either he needs a real strong gallop or softer ground and I think it's the ground. Hopefully just a strong gallop will do."
