Grugy could return to action at Chepstow Gary Moore's 2014 Champion Chase winner Sire De Grugy could reappear as early as next weekend at Chepstow. Not much went right for the nine-year-old last season, but he did win at the Welsh venue before heading to Cheltenham in defence of his crown. He was only fourth to Dodging Bullets there and was an early casualty at Aintree over two and a half miles. "Sire De Grugy seems in great form and looks as good as ever," said Moore in his Betway blog. "He's actually carrying more condition this year than he's ever done before and is about 10 or 15 kilos heavier than usual. Whether he's just doing better or if it's middle-aged spread, I'm not so sure! "He may strip a bit lighter in the coming weeks, but one thing for sure is he's definitely bigger now than he's ever been. "The plan at this stage is to run him at Chepstow on Sunday week (October 11) over two miles and three furlongs (John Ayres Memorial Handicap Chase) as long as the ground is good to soft or softer. "They do say there is rain coming in at the end of next week so that looks our most likely starting point. The soft ground is just so important to him and his work is so much better when there is rain about. "His schooling has been fantastic which is important because it was his jumping that let him down last year. He came back really sore from Aintree last spring, but he's had plenty of physio and seems A1 now. "We were always playing catch-up last season and this time around we've had no hold-ups or anything like that. "If he doesn't go to Chepstow, we've got the option of the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter in the first week of November, or even a race like the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham - we'll just keep a close eye on the weather." Stablemate Traffic Fluide, third in a Grade One at Aintree, will run in either the Chepstow race or the Haldon Gold Cup but the two will be kept apart.
