Grumeti on course for Ascot Alan King has given Grumeti a clean bill of health after his run at Goodwood last Saturday and an appearance at Royal Ascot is on the cards for the leading juvenile hurdler. The McNeil Family-owned gelding was beaten a short-head by Life And Soul, but it was a case of mission accomplished as connections wanted him to go up a few pounds in the handicap. His new mark was released on Tuesday morning and a 4lb rise sees him on 93, with 91 being good enough to get a run in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap last season. "He's absolutely fine after his race," said King. "He's gone up 4lb and now we just hope he gets in. If he does, he'll go for the Duke Of Edinburgh on the Saturday. "It's Ascot or nowhere. He's been on the go a while now and he'll have to show me it hasn't caught up with him, but there was no sign of it at the weekend. "Win, lose or draw at Ascot, he'll definitely have a break after that."
