HENDERSON DOUBLE-HANDED IN CHANDLER

Nicky Henderson will be double-handed in his bid to win a second Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot tomorrow.

The Seven Barrows trainer will saddle top weights Tiutchev (11st 10lb) and Get Real (11st 8lb) in the #60,000 contest, which he won in 1996 with Big Matt.

There were 10 runners declared overnight with last year`s winner Nordance Prince and Jungli the only withdrawals.

Nordance Prince was due to make his reappearance but trainer Venetia Williams said: 'The horse is fine but it has been a struggle to get him ready in time and at the last minute he was held up with a bruised foot.

'It was all coming a bit soon for him.'

The Ross-On-Wye trainer has no firm plans for Nordance Prince, adding: 'He`s virtually ready to run. We could run him over two and a half miles - he was second in the Tripleprint over two miles five - but there is nothing definite.'

Davoski will now represent Miss Williams in the Victor Chandler.

Function Dream, ante-post favourite for the two-mile test since beating Davoski in the Castleford Chase at Wetherby last month, will be ridden by conditional jockey Tony Ross, who will be bidding to land his biggest success so far.

Martin Pipe, who has yet to win the prestigious contest, runs Carlovent and Thomas Pink Gold Cup second Exit Swinger, the mount of champion jockey Tony McCoy.

Richard Johnson will ride Carlovent.

Paul Nicholls will rely on St Pirran in the Gerrard Tolworth Hurdle, which has been saved from last Saturday`s waterlogged Sandown card.

The Ditcheat trainer also had Valley Henry entered in the Grade One event but has taken the unbeaten novice out of tomorrow`s race.

'Valley Henry is fine,' said Nicholls` assistant Jeremy Young. 'It`s just with the ground drying out.'

There are eight declarations for the Tolworth, including Pipe`s highly-regarded Iznogoud.
