HRI racecourses cut prices With effect from the July 7th meeting at Leopardstown, the price of a range of food and beverage items at Leopardstown, Fairyhouse, Navan and Tipperary racecourses has been reduced by an average of 4.5%. This follows the new VAT rate reduction which sees the 13.5% rate reduced to 9% from July 1st on certain items. The most significant benefit to race-goers will be a new price of €2.50 for a race-card, down from a previous price of €3. The direct VAT reduction would have given a race-card price of €2.88 but the racecourses will absorb the additional amount to deliver meaningful savings. Race-goers at yesterday evening’s Leopardstown meeting were the first to benefit from the new card price. John Murphy, Financial Controller of HRI racecourses, said: “This race-card price initiative and the lower VAT on catering products have improved the value for race-goers at our tracks. "There will also be a number of special promotions during the year such as the Fairyhouse €5 race-day which will be repeated on Sunday July 10th and Sunday September 18th."
