Halford lowers Riyazan's sights Mick Halford hopes a drop in class will help Riyazan return to winning ways in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Star Appeal Stakes at Dundalk on Friday. Since making a winning debut, the Aga Khan-owned colt has been highly tried in the Champions Juvenile Stakes and the Beresford Stakes. There are 23 entries for the Listed race, including several trained by Aidan O'Brien, a couple by Charlie Appleby and two by Mark Johnston. "Riyazan will take his chance in the Listed Star Appeal Stakes and he has developed into a good horse for us," Halford told his website. "He will appreciate a drop in class on Friday and I'm pretty sure that he will handle the surface. "He brings a good level of form into the race and if he gets a bit of luck with the draw, he should be capable of running a big race."
