Halford trio primed for Dubai Michael Halford has issued a positive update on his three runners who will compete at the carnival in Dubai. Simsir made the team after winning his first two starts before being beaten by a head in Dundalk last month. The three-year-old gelding is joined by Massif Central who was last seen finishing second in the valuable 'Red God' handicap at Dundalk in October. Surrounding completes the triumvirate and the six-year-old mare had a lucrative 2019 that saw her win four times - three at Listed level and a Group 3 at Fairyhouse. Halford said: “Simsir, Massif Central and Surrounding have all settled in well in Dubai and are enjoying the sun on their back. "Simsir has come out of his run before Christmas in great form and is bouncing. I just wanted to get another run into him for experience and he seems to have taken it very well. “I’m heading over there next Sunday and hopefully we will have our first runners at the meeting on January 16.”
