Halley looking forward to 2018 Despite the fact stable star Arctic Skipper has been on the sidelines, County Waterford handler Vincent Halley has been racking up impressive statistics in recent times. Carrigready and Tintown Robin got on the scoresheet for Halley within a week in the autumn - much to the trainer's satisfaction. "Our yard would only be small in numbers but the horses have been running well," said Halley. "Throw in the point-to-pointers and we've had seven or eight winners since May." Chinensis and Getaway Trump have scored between the flags this term for Halley, with the latter subsequently sold to Tom Malone for Paul Nicholls. "Some of the point-to-pointers would be sold on as that'd be part of the business here, as well as a bit of pre-training," explained Halley. The challenge now is to keep the momentum going, and the Carrigready operator is optimistic that it is achievable. He said: "There are some nice horses here to look forward to. "He probably hasn't shown it yet over fences but Carrigmoorna Matt should give his owners, Tom McCarthy and Michael Veale, some good days. "Tintown Robin has been a very consistent horse for his owners and he's a nice, fun handicapper. "The same owners have a nice Stowaway filly with me - Tintown Rose. "She had the one run in a bumper and she'll go for a mares' maiden hurdle. I think she'll be a better mare with an obstacle in front of her. "There's a grand unnamed Kalinisi filly there, too. She'll go for a mares' maiden hurdle and she's owned by Debbie Halley, a relation of ours. "My mother Pam has Perle Rose, and she has placed form in point-to-points. She'll go the same route - for a mares' maiden hurdle. "We're hoping to have something for Dundalk too, early in the new year."
