Boxing Along stuck on doggedly to land the spoils in the Jimmy Neville Memorial Beginners Chase at Thurles.

For the second race in a row the winner was friendless having traded as short as 3/1 this morning and returning a 7/1 shot.

All the money had come for Romantic Fashion (13/8 this morning, returned 8/11) and things looked to be going to plan for the favourite as she took the lead three from home after a blunder by Company Coming

Davy Russell had to get serious on the market leader after the second last but she looked in control before the final fence.

The mare wandered a touch going to the last, however, letting Boxing Along, who had moved up to challenge five out, back in with a shout.

Vincent Halley 's charge stayed on best on the run-in, under Andrew Lynch, to record a hard-won two-length victory.

The winner had been well beaten in third at Fairyhouse last time but hadn't run too badly previously over three miles here when fourth to Sumos Novios. He had previously spent the last few seasons point-to-pointing and hunter chasing.

Halley who trains the winner for his father Lar led his charge away from the winners enclosure.
