Hamstring injury rules Skitter Scatter out of Irish Guineas A damaged hamstring muscle has been discovered following Skitter Scatter's unplaced effort in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday. John Oxx's charge, who was a 7/1 shot for the fillies' Classic, weakened over a furlong out to come home 14th of the 15 runners. Jockey Ronan Whelan reported that the filly stopped quickly while the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Oxx said today: "We were scratching our heads over her performance but she has damaged a hamstring muscle. "We believe it happened early on in the race, possibly leaving the stalls. "She will require a few weeks off work which will mean she will miss the Irish 1,000 Guineas and it is touch and go whether she will make Royal Ascot. "There is no shortcut with this type of injury but the good news is that she should make a full recovery." Skitter Scatter won four times as a juvenile for Patrick Prendergast, culminating in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September. Prendergast subsequently joined forces with Oxx having decided not to renew his licence.
