The Donnacha O'Brien-trained Happy Pharoah will miss the rest of the season having suffered a setback.

Runner-up on his latest two starts, the gelding held a couple of Group 1 entries later in the season in the Irish St Leger and British Champions Long Distance Cup respectively.

However, those plans have had to be shelved as connections now have one eye on an early campaign in 2027.

Donnacha O'Brien said: “He got a bit of a setback, unfortunately, so he’ll be off for the rest of the year.

“It’s a bit of a shame but we’ll bring him back next year.”

When it was put to him that he looked like he could have nice prize in him at some point, he added:-

“He does still. I’d say it’ll be next year or even sometime in the winter for him.”
