Harrington to be double-handed in Deloitte

Jessica Harrington plans to saddle Oscars Well and The Bull Hayes in Sunday's Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Oscars Well has already proven he is up to Grade One level by winning decisively at Navan in December, while The Bull Hayes takes a step up in grade having last month run away with a maiden hurdle at this track.

"Both horses will run. Oscars Well was very impressive in Navan and is ready to go again," said Harrington.

"The two and a quarter miles will probably be a little bit short for him but we want to get a run into him and this is the obvious place to go.

"He's entered in the two-mile-five-furlong novice hurdle (Neptune) and the three-mile novice at Cheltenham (Albert Bartlett) and he'll probably go for one of those.

"It's a big step up for The Bull Hayes but he won by 12 lengths last time and we seem to have got him right now.

"He likes going left-handed, which is why we decided not to run him in Punchestown the other day, and I think he'll appreciate the extra two furlongs."

Eleven entries have been received, with champion trainer Willie Mullins leaving in the exciting Zaidpour, as well as recent winner Cottrelsbooley and So Young.

Dermot Weld could run Endless Intrigue and Hidden Universe, while Shot From The Hip is a major contender for JP McManus and Edward O'Grady.

Far Away So Close, Old McDonald and Si C'Etait Vrai complete the possibles.

Old McDonald is trained by Noel Glynn, who believes the six-year-old is the best horse he has ever trained.

Having finished fourth in the Punchestown Champion Bumper, he won over hurdles at the second attempt.

"The Deloitte is the plan and I'm hoping that the ground will be better. I think that he will be better on better ground, although he'll run on anything," said Glynn.

"We will find out if he is good enough to go to Cheltenham for either the Neptune or Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

"Robbie (Power, jockey) said that we should go for the Albert Bartlett and Sunday will tell us a lot.

"It looks a good race with the likes of Shot From The Hip and So Young in there.

"But Old McDonald is the best I've ever had or will have, although that still might not make him that good a horse as I haven't had many good ones!"
