Harrison in intensive care after fall

Jockey David Harrison is in intensive care this morning. He was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital following a heavy fall at Hong Kong`s Sha Tin racecourse.

The incident happened soon after the start of a six-furlong sprint on Wednesday night with his mount My Chief appearing to clip the heels of another runner, unseating Harrison.

At first the injury did not seem too serious as the Welshman appeared to be fully conscious immediately after the fall. However, on arriving at the hospital, Harrison was placed in the intensive care unit.

He is expected to undergo X-rays today.

Harrison`s wife, Abby, said: 'David has been conscious since his fall and has been speaking with me throughout the day.

'He is in the Prince Of Wales Hospital intensive care unit and will undergo further tests for his neck injury this afternoon.

'I will try to update the media on David`s situation soon. In the meantime, I have to thank all those who have given support to David and myself duringthis difficult time.'
