Cheltenham Bumper third Joshua Lane will make his hurdling debut when there is sufficient ease in the ground.

Trainer Eddie Harty is hoping his exciting prospect delivers on his promising season last term when he does reappear.

However, Harty is keen to keep his powder dry until the rain arrives.

He said: "He's in good form and has schooled well, but I'm just waiting for some respectable ground for him.

"We haven't been able to exercise on the grass as it is good summer ground still at present, not good winter ground.

"There's no point rushing him, so he's just enjoyed an easy time for a few weeks. He's all dressed up with nowhere to go.

"He does like good ground, but I won't risk him on summer ground. He's been straightforward, though.

"I thought he was unlucky at Cheltenham and he should have finished closer.

"He's certainly one to look forward to."
