Hawk swoops in Killarney opener

The Quiet Hawk, sent off the outsider of two Jessica Harrington runners, ran out a convincing winner of the opening juvenile hurdle at Killarney.

Mark Bolger produced his mount with a well timed run to tackle front-runner High Destiny at the second last.

The daughter of Hawk Wing asserted before the final flight and galloped on strongly on the run to the line to score by three lengths on her debut over timber.

Roman Flight kept on from the last to just pip 66/1 shot High Destiny for second on the line.

The winner was sent off 12/1 with stablemate Chart Master, a 6/1 chance, finishing a well-beaten ninth

Noel Meade's runner Bleuker was the one for money (4/1 into 3/1 favourite) but could only finish sixth.

Harrington was not in the winners' enclosure to welcome back her winner, who had shown only moderate form on the level.

Her best effort had come in June when finishing fourth in a Navan handicap, over 1m5f, off a mark of 60.
