The David Wachman-trained Wooden Heart made a winning debut when claiming the opener at Clonmel this evening.

The Montjeu filly was sent off a 10/3 shot in the ten furlong fillies maiden and ran out a convincing winner under Wayne Lordan. Athloman Cottage set a strong pace but was claimed a furlong-and-a-half from home by the eventual winner.

Wooden Heart stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a three-length victory over 25/1 shot Krissy's Kisses 13/8 favourite Pianola disappointed in a well-beaten sixth.

"She's a quite nice filly and we've always liked her. She's big and will only get better and will learn from it. She wants good ground and that was plenty soft for her," said Wachman of the winner.

The trainer also had an update on his 1,000 Guineas winner Legatissimo:-

"She came out of the race fine and I don't know where we'll run next.

"I don't think she has an issue with any trip but ground is the key to her. We'll see where everyone else is going and we'll see what happens closer to the time."

The winner's full-sister Silky won the corresponding race on her debut two years ago. She was fourth in a Group 3 on her only subsequent start.
