Heartbeat Supreme brings up 1,500 milestone for Joseph O'Brien Joseph O’Brien sent out his 1,500th winner worldwide, since taking out a training licence under a decade ago, as Heartbeat Supreme landed the Put The Fun In Fundraising At Dundalk Maiden in runaway fashion. O’Brien saddled his first winner with Justice Frederick at Gowran Park in June 2016 and has enjoyed phenomenal global success since including two Melbourne Cups, an Irish Derby and victory at the Breeders' Cup to reach the 1,500 milestone even quicker than his father Aidan. Heartbeat Supreme was making a quick reappearance following a promising third here last Friday, and Joey Sheridan’s mount broke smartly here from his wide draw. The 5/4 favourite proceeded to make all and, after asserting over a furlong out, stretched right away inside the final furlong for a facile eight lengths victory over Spirit Honour. New Radical was a head further back in third. Sheridan said, “A mile plus is ideal for him. He was just a little bit out on his head over seven in a winners' race the last night. Stepping up to a mile, and back into a maiden, I was able to keep it good and straightforward. "He has plenty of options." When asked if he sees him as a stakes horse down the line, he replied: "You would like to think so, he won that well anyway. "When he went by the line, he was pulling himself up in front. Then one came to me, and it took me to well past the seven-furlong start to pull him up. He has a bit of a future." On O’Brien’s milestone tally he added, “For a fella who is so young, it is unbelievable. I can't say any more than what people already know and have said. “It is some achievement and it is nice to be a small part of it." Quotes by Michael Graham
