Hennessy snaps up Rubi Light's half-sister Robbie Hennessy is delighted at having snapped up a four-year-old half-sister to his stable star Rubi Light. The unraced Ultra Light arrived from France where she had been in the care of Francois Cottin, who had also trained Rubi Light in his early days. Hennessy is indebted to his great friend Philip Carberry for tipping him off about the prospect of the daughter of Bear Creek being for sale. "Philip rides out for him and had been riding her out," said County Meath-based trainer. "He thought she was a nice filly, Francois said she was for sale and to give him a ring. Having bought Rubi Light we got first refusal, which was great. She's one to look forward to. "Philip won the Champion Hurdle on Sublimity for us so he keeps an eye out for horses for me. "He told me Rubi's sister was up for sale so we did a deal before the Lexus Chase, just in case Rubi won that race and she might be a lot more expensive. We got the deal done. "She's had plenty done, but we'll just start from scratch with her like a blank canvas. "Everything is different compared to France. The feed is different and the whole training regime is different. Every day is going to be new for her. "We'll just take our time with her and see how we get on. We've had six horses come over from France in the last year. "They take a couple of weeks to settle in, but they are usually straightforward and have been well-handled and are forward types. "She looks like she's done a lot so there wouldn't be a lot of work on her. I'd imagine we might give her a run towards the spring."
