Shark Hanlon has confirmed that Hewick will return to the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil after his close second in the race last year.

The popular 10-year-old gelding was last seen finishing eighth in the Grand National at Aintree and is set for further travels.

The trainer said: "We are definitely going to France.

"He is in great form.

"After France he will get his break and we'll make a decision - I'd love to go back to America (Grade 1 Grand National Hurdle Stakes). I'll have talks with the owners and see what they want to do.

"There are a few good pots around this year too, so we will wait and see.

"We have no decision on who is going to ride him yet, we will sit down and talk about it."

Hewick famously landed the American Grand National at Far Hills in October 2022. He is also a former winner of the King George at Kempton the following year.
