Hightori camp frustrated

Hightori could have a new jockey when he begins his build-up to the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe, it emerged today.

He met trouble in running before finishing third under Gerald Mosse in yesterday`s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.

And asked whether Mosse would keep the ride when the four-year-old runs next in an Arc trial in September, owner Gary Tanaka`s racing manager Andy Smith said: 'I don`t know. We will have to look at the tape again - emotions were a bit high straight after the race.'

Connections had feelings of 'what might have been' after their colt was beaten by just three lengths by Galileo at Ascot, and only a length by runner-up Fantastic Light.

'It was a slightly disappointing outcome,' Smith said. 'The jockey nearly came off as he went for a run on the rails round the home turn and then he was checked in the straight. We felt we were the moral second.'

Hightori, also third in the two-furlong shorter Dubai World Cup and the Prince Of Wales`s Stakes at Royal Ascot, had originally been earmarked for the Arlington Million.

But Smith said: 'Now he has proven he stays a mile and a half his trainer Philippe Demercastel will probably go the French route, so he will go for the Arc with a prep race, probably the Prix Foy.

'We will see how he is but that is probably the plan. He seemed in fine fettle after the race and hardly appeared to have had a race.

'He has had a fairly long season but after the Arc we would possibly look at the Breeders` Cup Turf or maybe the Japan Cup - the long straight there would suit him.'
