Hills Considering Cucaracha Target

Barry Hills is mulling whether to send his star sprinter La Cucaracha to Newmarket for the Darley July Cup or take up an alternative engagement at York.

The five-year-old won the Nunthorpe Stakes on the Knavesmire last term and she was not beaten far when ninth in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on her seasonal bow.

Hills is now left with the choice of aiming at either Newmarket's Group One feature or the Group Three Cuisine De France Summer Stakes, a fillies' race in which La Cucaracha was second last year.

'She will either go to the July Cup or run in the Group Three fillies' race at York on the same day,' said Hills.

'She had a little hiccup after Royal Ascot ? where she ran well ? but she is all right now and is ready to run.'
