Hills Monitoring York Ground

Barry Hills is keeping a careful eye on conditions at York ahead of La Cucaracha's planned run in the VC Bet Nunthorpe Stakes.

Hills would not want to see too much rain ahead of Thursday's Group One event if last year's race winner is to bid for a double.

He said: 'I'm very happy with her and will be more confident if the ground remains quick, but I have several others with good chances including Dabbers Ridge in the City Of York Stakes and Silk Blossom in the Lowther.

'She's a filly who doesn't want it too firm as she's by Barathea.'
