Hobbs Thinking Wishfull will improve

Philip Hobbs believes Wishfull Thinking may just have needed the run when beaten in Saturday's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham.

The eight-year-old was sent off the 7-2 favourite for the Grade Three feature but could finish only sixth, beaten 32 lengths by Great Endeavour.

A winner at Aintree and Punchestown last term, Wishfull Thinking is entered in both the Hennessy and King George VI Chase at this stage.

Hobbs said: "He'd had two breathing operations, so he won't be having another one or anything, but he was very thick in his wind after the race.

"He's fine, it just might be a question of needing a race to be at his best. Hopefully he's better next time."
