Juddmonte Farms-bred Meriden (7/2jf) completed a four-timer of consecutive wins today, landing the Curragh’s Neville Homes Summer Fillies Premier Handicap for jockey Chris Hayes, owner Patrick O’Brien and trainer Denis Hogan.

Bought for 32,000gns as a cast-off, of sorts, from top owner/breeders Juddmonte last year, the Bated Breath filly had new connections waiting before scoring from a rating of 57 at Down Royal in late May, but today notched a four-timer with a mark of 86.

Despite showing her usual tendency to hang left, Meriden scored easily by three lengths, with Hogan reporting “she only just about won the first day but has stepped up every day. She's progressed from run to run and is just a filly in good form. She has a really good temperament. so that helps.

"She has had four races in a month and is a real improver. She has a tendency to lean left so I’ve always wanted to go left-handed but Joey (Sheridan, stable jockey but unable to ride at today’s 8st 8lb) said she was dead straight when he won on her here previously and Chris did a great job today.

“Well done to this man (Patrick O'Brien) for purchasing her."
