Holland Takes Hazyview Ride

Darryll Holland will partner Neville Callaghan´s Hazyview in the Group Three Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown.

Holland, who is due to ride Merger and Tarfah in Chicago on Saturday night, will be having his first ride on the four-year-old since the pair finished fourth behind Oratorio and Motivator in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

Hazyview had previously scored over this weekend´s distance of a mile at Windsor and will wear blinkers for the first time in the eight-runner race, which also features Mick Channon´s Majestic Desert.

'He is a horse that has got a lovely long stride on him and he ran very well in the Coral-Eclipse,' Holland told At The Races.

'He made the running there and finished fourth and I thought that was a great run behind Oratorio and the Derby winner. He is a willing partner and I think that is what you need on your side.'

Majestic Desert will be having her first run since scoring in the Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and will again have the services of Ted Durcan.

John Oxx´s Caradak will bid to complete a three-timer having bolted up in the Minstrel Stakes last month, while Aidan O´Brien´s Solskjaer makes a quick reappearance after finishing fourth in the Royal Whip last weekend.

Democratic Deficit was also in action on that Curragh card having finished 13th in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes, and Jim Bolger´s Irish 2000 Guineas third turns out again.

Mustameet - seventh to Cadarak last time out - Lord Admiral and Dermot Weld´s Simple Exchange complete the field.

Earlier on the card, Weld´s Vinnie Roe will tune up for an unprecedented fifth win in the Irish Field St Leger when facing five rivals in the Ballyroan Stakes.

The admirable seven-year-old will be bidding to take the Listed mile-and-a-half race for the third time following wins in 2002 and 2003.

His chief rival this weekend appears to be John Oxx´s Shalapour, with the Aga Khan-owned colt having his first outing since coming home third in the Irish Derby.

Shalapour is a general 5-1 shot for the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on September 10.
