Hong Kong Jockey Club Announce Chief Executive Officer Designate The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced the appointment of Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges as the Club´s Chief Executive Officer - designate, to assume office on 1 February 2007. Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges, currently the Club´s Executive Director, Racing, succeeds Mr Lawrence T Wong, who will retire end of January 2007 after 11 years as the Club´s Chief Executive Officer.Hong Kong Jockey Club Chairman Mr John C C Chan emphasised the important role played by the incoming Chief Executive Officer in leading the Club staff not only in upholding the vision and mission of the Club and implementing measures under the modernised Betting Duty regime, but also in further developing the sport of horse racing in Hong Kong so as to maintain the Club´s standing in providing world-class horse racing, sporting and betting entertainment and being Hong Kong´s premier charity and community benefactor.Mr Chan said that after a seven-month worldwide recruitment exercise, the Board of Stewards had selected Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges for the post of Club Chief Executive Officer based on his experience and achievement, both internationally and in Hong Kong.In accepting the appointment, Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges said 'It is one of my major challenges in life to be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and being charged with the tasks of driving the Club´s racing and football business through challenging times and serving Hong Kong and its people well.''I am also proud to be leading one of the most magnificent and professional management teams,' he added.
