Headmaster, Fort Vega and Aviatrice all renew rivalry in the €100,000 Mallow Handicap (2.37pm) at Cork this afternoon after filling the first three places at the Curragh last month.

The trio are all near the head of a wide-open market for this 16-runner 7f event which was won 12 months ago by Sheila Lavery’s Fort Vega.

Headmaster’s trainer Eddie Lynam also has strong claims with Keke in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Midsummer Sprint Stakes (3.38).

The Group 3 Darley Munster Oaks Stakes (4.48) is another highlight on a quality seven-race card, and Perfect Your Craft has proved all the rage this morning with her odds shortening from 6/1 into 11/4.

The daughter of Mastercraftsman won three times for Ralph Beckett and went close on her first start for Paddy Twomey at the Curragh last month.

Twomey also has a fancied newcomer in the shape of New Bond Street in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at 2.07pm.

The going at Cork remains good following selective watering and the forecast is dry with temperatures expected to reach 18C.
