Richard Hughes aims to be back in the saddle at Newmarket today after giving up his final mount on Friday's Ascot card as well as his rides at Wolverhampton's evening meeting.

The dual champion jockey was feeling unwell and felt it best not to continue with such a big weekend coming up.

His rides include Sky Lantern in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday and Sole Power in the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on Sunday.

"He just felt a bit sick and he said he just couldn't ride any more today. He wants to make sure he's all right for tomorrow," said Hughes's agent, Tony Hind.

The jockey took his first three rides but was replaced by Jim Crowley on Whaleweigh Station in the fifth race.

Clerk of the course Chris Stickels reported that Hughes was "feeling sick".
