Hughes doubles up at Royal Ascot Arab Dawn was a determined winner of the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot under Richard Hughes. The Hughie Morrison-trained four-year-old was the 6-1 joint-favourite following an encouraging comeback third from Newmarket and moved nicely throughout. The grey battled his way to the front inside the final two furlongs and while Luca Cumani's Ajman Bridge finished with a flourish, Morrison's charge was not for passing and clung on by half a length to complete a double for Hughes following his Albany Stakes victory aboard Illuminate. Astronereus and Libran were third and fourth respectively. "He's owned by great people and it's great when the right people win races," said Morrison. "I was worried three (furlongs) out as I didn't think we were going very well, then Luca's horse came at him. "At least Luca bred this horse, so he has something to smile about."
