Dermot McLoughlin has given an update on his two former Irish Grand National winners with Freewheelin Dylan set for a spell hunter chasing.

The 11-year-old gelding landed Fairyhouse's showpiece at 150/1 in 2021, but hasn't got his head in front since.

“Freewheelin Dylan is going to run in a point-to-point on Sunday week in Tinahely," said McLoughlin.

“I think we’ll go hunter chasing with him and hopefully he stays right, that’s the main thing."

Lord Lariat took the honours in the Irish Grand National of 2022 and has been seen just three times since then as he works his way back from injury.

The trainer said: “Lord Lariat did a ligament just the week before the Irish National this spring, but he’s back on the gallop a month.

“We’re hoping to aim him at some of those good races after Christmas.”
