Hurricane Georgie took advantage of a 32lbs lower hurdle rating to fences' mark at Wexford today, readily winning the BoyleSports (Mares) Handicap Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott, jockey Jack Kennedy and owners Pioneer Racing.

The daughter of Court Cave initially failed to win in five hurdle attempts last summer but last winter progressed over fences with placed efforts at Listed and Grade 3 levels and improved her chase rating to 134 - 2st 4lbs above today's mark.

Racing with the pace and on the outer, Hurricane Georgie swept past her rivals in the home straight and comfortably beat Toor Moment by three and a quarter lengths.

Kennedy said “she was entitled to do that with her form over fences.

“She probably is a little bit better over fences than she is over hurdles, but she was entitled to win that. I'm not sure whether she'll keep going for the summer but she doesn't mind that ground anyway."
